About Us

Solid Rock Foundation Schools was established on 6th September, 1995 with two children, Eunice Hazel and Kwesi Bright. These two were later joined by Marian Adjekum, Monica Otuah, Nadia Okraku, Philip Owusu and Roberta Ablorh.

The school was started in a garage and the veranda of the residence of the Hazels. Mrs Hazel acted as the as the proprietress, headmistress, class teacher, driver as well as an accountant.

The number of children started increasing from Kwabenya, Madina and Legon. More teachers were employed as the school’s population increased. Among them were Mrs Elizabeth Ofori and Mr Edward Tetteh.

The PTA was formed in October 1995 with Mr. James Otieku of the University of Ghana as the Chairman. In 1996 under the chairmanship of Mr. James Otieku, the PTA donated the first set of drums and furniture to the school. He later handed over to Rev. Osei-Kofi who also handed over to Mr. Jonas Hervie because he had to leave the country.

In September 1997, the Primary Department was opened. The excellent foundation laid in the nursery children propelled parents to continue the basic education.

Macken Sarpong and other children were the first students of the primary department with Mr. Selasie Dzanku as the class teacher.

At Grade six, the children excelled so well that their teacher, Mr. Mark Mensah recommended them for promotion to Junior Secondary School so on the 24th of February, 2004, the Junior Secondary School (JSS Department) was opened with five students.

A team of officers from the Ghana Education Service (GES) visited the school on the 31st of March, 2004 regarding the opening of the JSS Department.

The five students scored a hundred percent in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) by the Grace of God.
